Orono Schools (ISD #278) is located on a beautiful, 120-acre campus in Long Lake, Minnesota, in the west-metro area of Minneapolis. Organized in 1949, the district serves resident students in all or part of the following communities: Independence, Long Lake, Maple Plain, Medina, Minnetonka Beach and Orono.
We believe every child–at every developmental level–thrives within a common language of character and ethics.
Our uniqueness begins with a single K-12 campus setting near the shores of Lake Classen. The connectedness we enjoy goes far beyond facilities and a serene natural setting. Our schools are a vital part of the communities we serve. We enjoy tremendous support from the residents of these communities!
For the third consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report has ranked Orono High School the #1 traditional high school in Minnesota and #4 overall. Source: Orono Schools
